The Perfect Morning

by Just Another Dreamer   Dec 29, 2005

A brisk morning in the month of December
It's surely going to be a morning to remember
Sound asleep she lies so still in my bed
Beautiful dreams of life dance in her head

A careful turn to watch her sleep
Being very quiet, not even a peep
There's a stiff breeze from a cracked window
It's cold out and has begun to snow

Half asleep she whispers a soft 'Burrr'
Pull the sheet up, wrapping my arms around her
Carefully lean to kiss her cheek
Using a gentle and cautious technique

Lying there she's so innocent and so sweet
With my arms around her I feel so complete
I love her and she loves me
We take our love to the next degree

Close our eyes with each other in hand
Sharing a love that no one would understand
I need her in my arms every night
She's the only one who makes it feel right

The alarm clock chimes in at a quarter to eight
We're both still in that semi-conscious sleepy state
As we fall back to sleep with incredible ease
She claims 'I just need another ten minutes please

I wake to the gentle music of a morning dove
A soft and tender kiss coming from above
A squinted eye finds it's way to an incredible smile
It's her bright smile that makes waking worthwhile

She whispers a soothing 'Good Morning' in my ear
She runs her hand over my back as I reply 'Thank You Dear'
Laughing and giggling to our morning orange juice
Eating the doughnuts and skipping the fresh fruits
Cuddling on the couch still dressed in our underwear
Gently running my hand through her soft silky hair
Today is a cold day in December
To me- that's a morning to remember
