Falling

by LittleMissImperfect   Dec 30, 2005

I watched you walk away from me
I watched you step by step.
I begged and begged you to stay
But still you upped and left.

You're the one who hurt me
The one who made me cry
You wiped away the tears then
Stabbed in the back and watched me die.

You broke my heart again and again
And still I came running back.
I spend my time wishing I had the
Courage that I always seem to lack.

The courage I need to walk away
To finally leave your side
To just stand up by my self
And say I will survive

I will survive without you
I don't need you to hold my hand
Even if you're not by my side
On my own I know I can stand.

I've seen so much in my life
Watched so many around me leave
I reached out to stop my dad but
He just pulled my hand off his sleeve.

My own father left me
He walked right out the door
I just collapsed right there and
Cried like never before.

I watched them pack up the truck
And drive away with his stuff
So that's what I get for believing
In father-daughter love.

He told me he loved me and
Kissed me on the head
The next time I saw him he
Lay in a coffin, dead.

In my dreams I saw him falling
I watched him from the top
I saw him fall from that cliff
Falling, falling. Stop.

I tried to stop you walking away
I didn't want you to leave
But you walked away from me
Pulling my hand off you're sleeve.

So be like my father, be like them all
Just walk away from me, go.
But I will watch you from that cliff too.
Falling, falling. So slow.
