Laughter

by Cari   Jan 2, 2006

I can't breathe.
The smile on my face gets bigger,
wider,
stronger.
When I can catch a breath,
it comes in deeply and quickly.
All I can feel is overwhelming joy.
My chest gets tighter as my breath leaves again.
Tears drip slowly from my eyes.
Finally I can hold it in no longer.
It comes up from deep in my stomach.
I can only laugh.
I laugh till my sides ache, I laugh till my head aches.
That doesn't matter though because for these short minutes,
I am a kid again.
For these short minutes,
I am happy again.

Thank you for sharing another good piece.

    The lines:
'The smile on my face gets bigger,
    wider,
    stronger.'

I feel would work better if they were
    combined into one line i.e.
'The smile on my face gets bigger, wider, stronger.'

    Keep writing
