Eyes of Gray

by Jacklyn   Jan 5, 2006

I once had blooming hope
that he would come back
the loving man she described
the father with bright eyes

I thought I could help him stay
giving words and attention he begged
that's why he said he drank,
where he had went back again

Through eyes that once held life
which lost all color, and all hope
I face the man my family loves
my grandpa who has lost his soul
killing the hope that I once bloomed.

Heartbreaking! You convey this with so much raw emotion, well done! I also like the whole "blooming hope" thing and the last line, so sad.
Take care and keep it up~Holly

I'm not sure if your talking about your own grandfather, but I presume you are. I can only imagine the pain your going through...it must be hard trying to love someone that won't or can't love you back. my father and I were never close and it bothers me a lot but I know that he loves me and I'm sure your grandpa does too.
