Doll

by Little Dot   Jan 5, 2006

I am just your play thing
Sitting up on this shelf

I'm covered in dust
Broken and shattered

I sit up here watching you
With each passing day

Never being moved
I only get to watch

You play with all your other toys
Why do you never tire of them

I used to be your favourite
What happened to those days

You would play with me and tell me all
I made you happy in the darkest times

I miss those days so much
When you used to care about me

Now I'm just your boring old toy
Sitting on this shelf for all of time

Intersing.. I liked this poem.. to me it was kind of stating how even the smallest of people have feelings and should be treated with respect... I saw your name on the board and figured I would take a look at your stuff.. this is preaty good..

It was a refreshing angle to write a poem from and really brought the doll alive.

Also nice to see no forced rhyming like so many other poems on this site.

    Keep writing
