The End (Sequel to 'The Video')

by cLumsy   Jan 10, 2006

I stand grave and solemn
In front of the tall dark jail
Slowly I walk my steps
This mission I must no fail

My heels clicked loudly
As I headed toward the place
Where villains lived and died
At a very steady pace

I was set in front of glass
And you were brought out here
Mixed feelings clashed together
Sorrow, anger, betrayal, fear

For a year has gone by
Since the video tape had broken
Now that i can't see my dead husband
Its been a years since I've spoken

You've changed since the murder
A stubble covered your cheek
The baggy orange pants you wore
Outlined your pale face that was weak

Just then you noticed me
And something was in your eyes
I realized what it was
And I too, started to cry

No more anger
No more fear
Just the memories of us
Reflected in those tears

You tried to reach for me
You tried to wipe them away
But the glass between us
Would remain there to stay

"I still love you" you whisper
"I'm sorry I cheated on you,
I never wanted to let you go,
I never thought you'd marry so soon"

They say to give second chances
They say to forgive and forget
But I keep thinking about the pain
That drowned my heart in regret

"You killed me husband with a gun,
You killed my will to live,
You killed everything I've ever had,
So what do you have to give?"

You gently smiled at me
And looked down at your cuffs
Then you stuttered and said
"Will my love be enough?"

You hopefully stared at me
I ask myself if this was fate
My dead husband must have done this
Telling me that love was never too late

The hour was almost up
The guards motioned him out
You looked at me desperately
But I only looked down

Then I took out a velvet blue box
It was the one you first gave me
The ring inside was never worn
But now I took it out for you to see

Your face lit up in recognition
And the guards let him linger
I smiled gently like you did
And slid the ring on my finger

Justice pushed you away once more
And I held onto my ring
I will promise myself to wait for you
No matter what Fate may bring

Humans have the power to forgive
Its used for souls to mend
Forgiveness seems to prevail
Always in the end

I hope you guys liked the trilogy. The ending for this poem was kind of hard to make out. Thanks for your support! Hugs for everyone!
