Afraid to be afraid

by Iola   Jan 10, 2006

She’s afraid to be afraid and so her story is left untold.
She is scared of all her closets, her skin so young, her heart so old.
She grabs the light and kiss it gently and it dissolves in her hand.
She’s a lion, she wears a crown but in her eyes lie something sad..

This girl is happy – for a moment – she jumps up and then falls down.
If you know her, you will love her, but you will notice a hidden frown.
This girl will show you what she’s made of cause she fights for what she knows.
She can see it, she can feel it – ‘what you reap, is what you sow’.

But she’s afraid to be afraid and to face her inner thought.
But to protect means to neglect another from being caught.
On her throne she sits alone - her loved ones seem far away.
If only she could crawl down for good, but what if she goes astray ..?

This girl is happy – just for a second – she laughs and sings out loud.
She owes you nothing, but she’ll give you something, cause she wants to make you proud.
She’ll paint your face like she paints her life with each and every shade.
She wants to see beauty, and beauty only – she’s afraid to be afraid.
