Double Life

by mary   Jan 4, 2004

They say we’re beautiful
The cutest couple ever
And it’s impossible
That we don’t last forever

We smile so bright
While we say, “thank you very much!”
But when I go home at night
I feel like my world is crushed

Behind all the cute faces
And a happy couple
My world is fading
But they’re too blind to see

They don’t see what’s behind the beauty
We probably have the worst relationship
You don’t understand how bad it’s killing me
I don’t know how long I can take this

I’m living a double life
Happy in front of people
But at home, full of strife
This life is not simple

You see a beautiful face
But behind all the beauty
Is pain that wont erase
You’re too blind to see

He beats me, rapes me,
He threatens to kill me
And you think were the prettiest thing
This world’s ever seen

I’ve never seen life
They way all of you do
The only life I’ve seen
Is hatred, pain, and you

You wont let me leave you
You make me stay
You said you’d kill me
If I didn’t obey

So before you become jealous
When you see us walking by
Remember what really goes on
In this double life
