You Never Knew Me

by Nearly but not quite   Jan 15, 2006

As you stand by my grave in the rain,
Don't say you loved me,
Don't say you were my only friend,
Don't say you were the only one who understood me,

You weren't.
I knew all of your secrets
And I knew you,
But I never told you anything about me
And you Never Knew me!

I didn't mean to keep things back,
I didn't mean to hide,
But I did.
And you never really knew me when I died.
