Giving Up

by Sherry Lynn   Jan 17, 2006

Giving Up

I thought I could do this
Thought I was strong
Thought I did not care
But I was wrong

Tired of hurting
Feeling all the pain
Wanting to give up
Sick of the games

I tried to tell you
So many times before
Tried to let you know
But my feelings you ignored

I'm expected to go on
As though nothing is wrong
Carry out daily activities
Without wanting to cry or shout

To hell with all that
I just do not care anymore
To hell with you
And everyone else who left me buckled to the floor

Wish my life were simple
Like it was before
Instead it's all over now
Like it should have been years ago

The last stanza was my favourite. finding out that you should have left a long time ago. yet everyone wants it to go on. a sense of hope that things can get better.

I've definitely been there a time or three.
Just know dear friend that the strength you need to get through the trials you face are all within you. I know you'll get through this.
    I'm always here~Holly

P.S. Well done on the poem, it's superb!
