Lingering Adieu

by Lost Soul 691   Jan 17, 2006

I never got to say good-bye
In your heart I hope you knew
My love for you would never wane
To you I would be true

Telephone call, going out the door
A friend was on the way
I stood in shock and disbelief
That misery was here to stay

What do I do? Who do I call?
What can anybody say?
I was the other woman
For this I'll always pay

Alone with my thoughts, not allowed to go
Can't see you, to feel it's real
Even though you had long moved out
Her heart is made of steel

I hope and pray each and every day
That things will somehow change
Perhaps I'll be invited over
Now wouldn't that be strange

I need a chance, and so does she
For closure with this event
The pain, the tears, and all the fears
We have to stop this descent

If you're up there Hon, then look at us
Please see what you can do
A sign perhaps you will reveal
So that we can say Adieu

First off, thanks for your connstructive criticism- it was MUCH appreciated! Secondly, this poem was fantastic. I loved the way you twisted the viewpoint to portray everything through the 'other womans' eyes. very creative. Your word choice and the rhythm flow perfectly. Very good write!
