That Day

by NeXuS   Jan 18, 2006

Alone in the big city
Sheltered by these guardians
Protecting me, and others
From the harm that we inflict upon ourselves
So strong, tall
Invincible
Enveloping me
Always in my sights
Letting me know that I am
Safe

Alone in the big city
The cracks begin to show
Blow by blow
Annihilating my hopes
People around me share my pain
Still I am alone
The iceberg of air
Creating a black hole
All I know is, I am
Afraid

Alone in the big city
Truly alone
Our guardians are no longer there
No protection
No hope
Countdown to zero
Abandoning me
No longer in my sights
How will I know if I am
Safe?
