Shadows

The blank pages in front of me
the sadness in my heart,
the tears now overflowing
the pain that just won't part,

the dull gleaming of the moon
the silence in the air
the dark slowly darker
I'm on my own, this isn't fair,

filled with memories of the past
that just won't go away,
waiting for you to call
when there's nothing left to say,

knowing I won't break the silence
I'll let the shadows grow,
the ones that darken on my day
Until that one day I'll let go.
