Bitter friends?

by Kurt   Jan 21, 2006

The soldier raises his weapon
His friend is dead
Both were enlisted
One for the union, one for the confeds

Such a stupid war
Stupid death and strife
Oh lord why
Did he take his friends life

They sang and laughed
Joked and played around
Now one of them
Is dead upon the ground

Tearfully he moves on
His composure breaks
He lays down
And his body quakes

Slowly he drifts back
Into normal state
Bottles up his anger
Remembers all his hate

How can friendship last
In a place like this
Soon he forgets
All about Chris

Several battles later
He is shot and killed
"There you go" he thinks
A Union win fulfilled
