My Debt

by Truest Lies   Jan 23, 2006

I have a debt...

And you see,
It isn't something simple.
I've realized,
That in my entire life, they have never hurt me.

I've never been bitten by a spider,
Kicked by a horse,
Attacked by a dog.
Animals have never injured me.

I've realized that I have a debt,
I have to stop hurting them.
I must pay them back for years of kindness and loyalty.

So don't look at me like that.
I am honoring my debt to animals.
That is, I'm sure you must agree,
The most honorable thing that I could do.

They have never hurt me.
Please understand that,
Now, I will not hurt them.
