I Think He Loves Me

It's the little things he does (conciously or otherwise)
that makes me think he loves me-
like the way he holds my hand, hugs me close,
or the way he touches my knee.

I sense it in the way he smiles at me.
There's a small hint in his eyes.
I feel it in the way we play around,
and how he hates to say goodbye.

It was there in the way we almost kissed,
the heavy heaving of his chest,
the mounting moments of suspense before I looked away,
telling myself it was for the best.

I am very much aware I was lying to myself,
but maybe I just need to let things be.
Still, every time I picture his face in my mind,
I can't help but think that he might love me.
