The Journey

by Laura   Jan 28, 2006

Time to grow up,
Time to get real,
You'll be on your own,
In just four more years.
It's weird how everything changed,
The time went by so fast.
The bad nights took forever,
And the good one's didn't last.
Now I'm faced with choices,
I never imagined before.
Suicide is own everyone's mind,
And blood is on their floors.
It seems its always been,
Black verses white.
A never ending battle,
A awfully brutal fight.
No one ever seems,
To be getting along,
It's like putting rap,
Into a country song.
Country's are at battle,
Over stupid stuff,
No matter how many people want world peace,
They'll never be enough.
Everyone wants to be accepted,
And they'll do anything,
As long as they get to sit at the cool table,
And are noticed by the football team.
Of course you have to smoke,
And drink every weekend too,
That's what it takes,
If you want them to accept you.
Pain digs it's way inside of you,
And fake becomes your smile,
Everybody around you has,
A drug dealer on speed dial.
And with the right one,
You can get your drugs real cheap,
We'll all stay skinny,
Cause we just won't eat.
Then there are the outsiders,
They don't talk much at all.
Their brains are really big,
But their rep's are very small.
People cheat their way through class,
And break apart your trust,
Fairy tales are no longer real,
Life is cruel, evil and rough.
True love is too painful,
Its power way too strong,
Its their for a month or so,
And in a flash it's gone.
You gotta lose in order to gain,
You gotta cry in order to laugh,
You gotta move on with the future,
In order to forget about your past.
Your friends will break your heart,
No matter how much they say they care,
They're just lying through their teeth,
They'll never really be there.
Labels are everywhere,
In everything we speak.
People judging people,
During the day and whilst they sleep.
Young people are giving it up,
To people they don't even know.
Guys are only in on it to prove,
They can make a girl scream ''Ohhh''.
People are going to talk about you,
And you just keep on acting tough,
One day you'll understand,
Sometimes your best just ain't enough.
Then what about God?
Where does he come in?
We're just wrapped up in ourselves,
On him we always can depend.
When life is good we do nothing,
Never pray at all,
But he's expected to always,
Be there when we fall.
I've stated all that happens,
Everything that can go wrong,
All the choices we're suppose to make,
The journey's dangerous and long.
It's not right to put people through this,
No matter of what age,
It's like throwing a nervous wreck,
Upon a crowded stage.
I'm tripping on my words,
Not sure how to say,
The path to your future starts,
As soon as you find the way.
