Innocence

by Beka   Jan 28, 2006

She clutches the phone
''listen my voice,
listen to me,
you have a choice"

"I can't I'm not worth it"
her friend replies
"when i look in the mirror
i can see it in my eyes

i wish i was dead
i simply can't deal
I'll make another scar
just so i can feel"

"God, please don't,
you're doing so well,
you'll look back tomorrow,
sorry you fell"

"i don't deserve it,
i don't deserve you"
"please don't,
you'll hurt me too"

she's crying now
she wants her to stop
her friend can't do it
she's all she's got

"please," she whispers
"don't give into the dark
each time you do,
it tears me apart"

"OK," her friend
sobs quietly back
"I'll stop for you,
I'll stop the attack"

she sighs in the dark
she has done good
she's saved her best friend
the way that she should

she hangs up the phone
and lies on the bed
but she can't sleep
her friend's voice's in her head

it weighs down her soul
the thought of her friend
and the way that
any day, it could end

she tosses and turns
then flips on the light
it's just no good...
she's too weak tonight

she finds her scissors
her favorite pair
she pulls up her sleeves
and admires what's there

railway tracks
running up her arm
she adds another
and waits for the calm

she presses a tissue
to her bleeding wrist
then rolls down her sleep
and makes a fist

no one must know
of the secret she bears
the guilty pleasure
she'll never ever share...
she just doesn't care
