Influence

by Sydney   Jan 29, 2006

Calling my best friend on the phone,
I realized no one was there
Really wanting to get in contact with her,
I wondered if she had gone somewhere

So I went to school the next day,
Seeing everyone had started to cry
Knowing something was wrong,
I started asking people why

They struggled and choked through their words
But one solemn person said,
"Your friend just passed away"
Covered in tears, it hit me, she was dead

The boy told me how it happened
"She was pretending to be someone she's not,
she was told to do many things,
and one was smoking pot."

Choking through words I asked, "What else?"
He said she was even more pressured
She was overdosing drugs and smoking
That a shortened life for her was assured

I don't know how to live my life
Without my world- my best friend
So don't let others influence you
Or your life could abruptly end

This is a really good poem. I have also just experienced a death. It sucks but keep in there.
