God's Whisper Satan's Call

by Unforgiven Retniap doolb   Jan 30, 2006

I walked outside to get the mail,
I flipped through each letter,
I came to yours and ran inside,
Wondering if it would just make me feel a little better.

But to my surprise it was a dose of reality,
Something I needed but haven't heard,
I must have read it 5 or 6 times,
Trying to make sense of every word.

I already knew what I had to do,
But you finally told me I needed to make a choice,
The thing is I'm so scared,
Here I have been so quiet I don't know how to use my voice.

As I read through to the end,
You said I have two paths laid out in front of me,
One down a hill to a dark trail another up into the burning sun
In my mind they are set out so clearly.

But for so long I have been going down that hill,
So swiftly and steadily,
This letter made me stop walking and look around,
At this time all I can see is tree after tree.

With out knowing it I have chosen my road,
Of God’s whisper and Satan’s call,
I don’t know how this all happened,
I have no clue of where I began to fall.

Now I just need to find my way back,
Before this night closes in,
I need to get off this trail and back to the hill,
Before in these woods I'm held within

I agree that the flow can sometimes be a litle off - But in such a well written poem, it really doesn't seem to make a huge difference :) Keep it up.

    Peace. [Sole]
