When I get older, I would love to be a fashion designer, and FBLA is helping me in many ways with my future plans.
In the fashion world, I can't just put something out there on the market, it has to be up to date, and I have to be creative. I can't go and make hot pink cropped pants with lime green polka dots all over them. Nobody is going to buy them, okay maybe if you were a clown, yeah, but someone like you or me would not buy them. I mean come on are you going to buy and wear hot pink cropped pants with lime green polka dots on them, yeah, me neither. So I would of just wasted money and material on something the consumer won't buy, chances are that I will be going out of business soon.
There are many ways FBLA and there events are helping me on my way to being a fashion designer. Let's take for an example, Public Speaking. Being a fashion designer, I am going to have to give speeches to show of my new fashion line, I will have to be presenting my stuff to the market, showing them a few things from m line, some slide shows and a speech, plus it will help me with hiring people making sure that they know what they are doing and that this is something that they really want to do and not doing it because it has good hours and the pay is good. So doing Public Speaking is getting me ready for my future plans.
Also Accounting, although it may not be one of my events this year, I am looking into it for next year because being money efficient is a major thing in any major industry. Plus I have to make sure I'm not getting cheated out of a whole lot of money when my accountant is doing the books, i have to make sure I know how to look over the books and make sure everything is right and in order.
In the fashion world I will be dealing with great amount of money, especially if I'm going to be the leader of a major fashion industry. Material is a major money factor, I can't make any clothes without material and unless I am planning to hand sew everything I have to buy machinery to do all the hard work and I have to hire workers to run it, also employees to help run the business. But my money will also go in buying a place and making sure all the bills get paid off and if you don't know much about money then I will have to say it's not looking to good unless you hire someone and you still could be losing money there. And what about the fashion shows, those are going to tons of money. I don't want to spend ALL my money on one fashion show because I paid all the models to much or I just went crazy, I have to learn how to spend my money wisely.
As a whole, FBLA has helped me out a lot by showing and teaching me how to be a leader. They are showing me how to stand up for myself, because I can't be the leader of a major fashion line and have everybody walk all over me, I have to stand up for myself and they are showing me how to have confidence in myself and in the work I put out.
Everybody in my chapter, all the students and adviser in there will sit and listen to what I have to say and help me with whatever I need help with. They also encourage me to go for something I want and they believe in me, and encourage me and tell me I can be the best at whatever I want as long as I apply myself and believe in myself. I am glad that I joined FBLA and I am proud to be part of this chapter because they have helped me with a lot of stuff and hopefully someday I can do that too.
