A Metaphor Of Horses

by Beautiful~*~Dragons~*~Fire   Feb 2, 2006

A lone stallion,
Stands on the banks of a mighty river,
Staring at his reflection,
And thinking about his life.

In the river he looks good,
For you cannot see his missing leg.
In the river he is whole,
And he feels better for a moment.

Just a mile up that same river,
A mare stands on the bank,
Staring at her reflection,
And thinking about her life.

In the river she looks good,
For you cannot see the jagged scars
In the river she is beautiful,
And she feels better for a moment.

Then once again reality falls upon them,
And they turn away,
Knowing it will never be,
But heading toward each other.

The stallion and the mare,
Meet at the river ford,
Stare into the others eyes,
And know their search is over.

They have both been wounded,
When life was not so good,
But they continued on,
Hearing that things will get better and following their hearts.
