Etude Le Misery

by Thao Anh   Feb 6, 2006

Played in D Minor
Etude Le Misery
Played by this fake,
Second rate prodigy

The left hand begins
This sinister beginning
The right hand adds in-
So far from the ending

Her heart is not there
The notes have no meaning
Her eyes burn into
The song of the dreaming

The music crescendos
Into a maddening play
The feelings are showing
In the accents that stay

Tears stain her face
Crimson from years past
She's seeing how long
The depression will last

Her pale hands are bleeding
On the holy white keys
Who knows what she's hiding
That nobody sees

Her liquid red crimson
Pouring from torn skin
The view is entrancing
But she came here to win

Short pauses, quick trills
Your breath has been stolen
Your heart has stopped beating-
The music is golden

The pedal is pressed-
You swear it was magic
But under the grace
Is something more tragic

Her soul yearns for more
Then just paper with ink
But she is trapped inside
Of what you seem to think

The music ritards
So close to the end
Melody of Misery
Of Notes she'll depend

The silence of long rests
The slowing of the trills
Your anxious to see
What anticipation kills

She closes her eyes-
This is the moment-
Everlasting silence
For everyone's torment

The last chord has struck
The last keys were pressed
The last blood was dropped
She has confessed

She's on the floor, lying dead
Drowning in her own tears
Blinded by this fantasy
You could not see for years

Song of the dreamers
Sing me to sleep
Played in D Minor
My soul you may keep
