Distraught

by Julia   Feb 7, 2006

A child threw
The crocked cross
Hie eyes flushed upon
His own cruel thoughts

But never the less
Life must go on
"Forget what is tedious
Forgive right from wrong"

Yet then the words altered
As passed on the years
As passed on the seasons
And grew harsher tears

Tears of regret and misunderstanding
Betrayal, and mistrust
Seemed all withstanding
The frostbitten touch of denial

Denial with its untrue
Hot tears of remorse
Regret, a new born
Whose cry rang horse

To all ears who could hear
For some may not seek
As their minds do not quiver
And they do not speak.

Speech alone was too harsh
For words, whose own meanings
Imply what they can't
Disturb and hurt feeling

Can't we all see the
Child who soon will go blind?
Have we seeked but denial
In a world so unkind?

Perhaps that is the matter
Which leads us down to this point
Our final answer is hidden
Our assimilations disjoint

In the end we all seek
For that we can't have
Were it truth, trauma
Meaning or mad

It still seems there
Unalive though breaths
Its thoughts and assessments
An air kissed caress...
