Face Value

by kia   Feb 9, 2006

She always tried to be happy
She always tried to save you the pain
Pretending to be happy
Faking the laughs and smiles
Memorizing the jokes

You took her for face value
Forgetting her heart
She always protected you
Like you never protected her
All she needed was someone to care
A stranger to save her
To heal her wounds before she makes more

You never understood her
You should have listened
Too strong to tell you
Too broken to heal
Look where she is now

Such a gift she's given
To take away the pain she caused
Never asking to be forgiven
She knew you hated her
She knew the hurt she made you all feel

Now she's taken it
Not letting you cry anymore tears
She's taken them all
Taken the worries, taken your fears
The only things you had for her
Now been erased
Keeping the tears she never shed
Where she is now
Her demons can never harm her

She's looking down
Watching you all sigh, in relief
She knows she did the right thing
She knows you deserved better
Now that she's gone
Your lives will become better
As your tears become fewer

So don't bother with those tears
You know your better off
Now she and I who are one and the same
Will watch down on you all
Making sure you're all safe
And away from all harm

Would love you all to vote and comment.
