Stary Night

The night I saw you standing there was the night everything changed
I watched you looking at the stars
You seemed so peaceful and happy
It was the first time I ever saw you smile
You caught me off guard when you looked at me
At first my heart stopped as you began to walk closer
I figured you'd be mad
But you weren't
You were just the opposite
You grabbed me and hugged me so tight that it felt like I couldn't breathe
I felt your tears sliding down my neck
I was confused and silent
Then you pushed me away and I fell
I hit the ground with a thud and looked up at you
I was scared now
Terrified

I tried to stand back up, but you pushed me down again
My heart pounding and my mind racing
I couldn't move
"Stay down."
That's what you said to me
You got down on your knees in front of me and smiled
Your smile was so beautiful and soft
You had a mysterious look in your eyes
You placed your hands on my shoulders and pushed me on my back
I stared up at you, confusion shone through my eyes
You leaned over me and then rolled off me and onto your back, bringing me onto your chest
"Look at the stars. Aren't they beautiful tonight?"
You smiled as you said those words
I laid on your chest as we watched the stars shine all night
That night was the beginning of the rest of our lives
