Breaking the Chains

by Tim Klassen   Feb 11, 2006

I will no longer let you control me
I will make my own mistakes
I have broken free from all chains
And although it is scary to live without you planning my every move
at least my life is my own.
And it may turn out that this will kill our friendship
which is equally terrifying because I harbor a great affection for you
but if you are unable to let me live for myself
than you are holding me down.
If it so happens that a friendship of 14 years is broken over this.
Than maybe it was never meant to be
I will never forget you

You were the only one who never deserted me
Even when I tried to desert you.
You taught me how to live,
and were always there to help me out.
but you never really knew me
because I never dared to share
You would have judged me too harshly.
And now I have found someone who doesn't,
and I am happy,
and you won't allow it.
I cannot be held back from this
nothing will change my mind on this
If I never see you again
I will miss you.
