Narcissist without a Mirror

by Elyse H.   Feb 14, 2006

I hope you regret every single day
every single way you let me down
And your mind rewinds to the times you kicked my heart around

I hope you look back and see the tears form behind my eyes
while you come face to face with your mistakes

Force a smile from your face
sift through the pain of all the lies
that rot your teeth as they trickle from your lips.

when you turned away from me you made a bed of ruins
to lay your head down at night.
so sleep tight on that pillow made of stone.
sweet dreams of a life you'll live alone.

You did it to yourself
you sit at home on your own
with no one else to blame
living each day in your regrets
I bet that's not what you expected

Did you ever find that door that says "easy way"?
an exit to escape the pressures of your days
one too many short cuts led you the wrong way

Now all your mistakes are adding up
should have taken them one by one instead of all at once

stuck in a phase that won't let you go
holding a mirror that now gives show
a jaded reflection you see in your soul
unlikely to like what your ego has sowed
