My Daughter

by sandra young   Feb 16, 2006

I read my daughters poem
boy was it funny
I could not help but laugh
till my nose gut runny

She talked about our home town
where I wish she were now
you see she moved away
in another new town

she has quite a sense of humor
and I'm sure you will agree
when she starts writing silly poems
thats when you will see

She wrote about newfoundland
with some story in her head
she wrote it down so funny
I laughed till my face turned red

her funny made up sayings
are hers and hers alone
her friends get quite amused by this
they love her to the bone

I don't know where she gets it from,
the silliness she has
I'm just glad she got it
and I hope it lasts and lasts

This poem was cute because it really showed the love you had for your daughter and the bond of poetry that you two share. You seem like a really great mom. Just remember even though your daughter is not home now, it will make the day she comes back for a visit all the more special.

Nicely done. Your poem shows where the talent comes from.
