Teenagers

Adults like to think that,
Kid's lives are just a breeze.
They think that we can cope with it,
That we sail through with ease.

They're too blind to see the struggle,
That a teenage life can bring.
They think they understand us,
But they don't understand a thing.

We have to be like Nelson,
We have to stay inside.
And from every single angle,
The pressure is applied.

The teachers seem to forget,
We do more than just their class.
We study more than just their subject,
There's more than one exam to pass.

We're trying to grow and flourish,
In a society filled with hate.
Trying to be individual,
But that's what people slate.

Some people worship their stereotype,
Of what they think we are.
Alcoholics and drug abusers,
Whos lungs are filled with tar.

Well I have got a message,
For all of the people out there.
We aren't all hoodied rebels,
Some of us really do care.

We care about our family,
We care about our friends.
We care about our school-work,
Our caring never ends.

We care about people's feelings,
We care about the truth.
We care about nearly everything,
The question is do you?

    my favorite stanza of the entire poem and 100% truee! adults think it is so easyyy being us but they have nooo idea what we have to go thru and deal with.. and the part about the teachers thinking we only have their class.. haha soooooo trueee...ive always wanted to write a poem about this and you did it perfectly!.. you've inspired me.. EXCELLENT job! =)

    O.o Ohh myyy gooshh! I totally and completely agree with this poem. They have NO idea what we teens go through. I personally think the teenage years are the worst years of your life, not the best haha. But yeah they think we're all self-centered ignorant kids, and I hate that, because I love my family and friends. I care about a lot of things and I have dreams. You are such a talented writer! I love all your poems!
