The Pluck of the Petal

by Chelsey   Feb 25, 2006

It’s been quite some time now
Since I saw your cute smile
It’s been quite some time now
Since you’ve complimented my style

I miss all those old days
When I received your hugs so tight
Just for those few seconds
My whole world was alright

I miss those last few holidays
You’ve spent with my family
You probably didn’t know this
But I imagined you were there for me

I miss hearing your loud laugh
We’d laugh at stupid things
If we’d ask other people
They’d think we were laughing at nothing

“He loves me, he loves me not”
People say when plucking a rose
You try to answer that mysterious question
When the truth is you’ll never know

I knew I’d never have a chance with you
But just being in your presence is enough
You gave me butterflies
Just standing there looking so tough

I know you’ve started your career
Your skinny body loves to dance
I support you in it all
It just bums me out I have no chance

So by the pluck of my rose petal
I try something new
I pluck the red rose
All concentrated on you

“He misses me, he misses me not”
I asked one by one
I put my head down in disappoint
At the very second I’m done

I found my answer the hard way
I give myself credit because I’ve tried
I guess that’s why you shouldn’t pluck petals
On a rose that already died
