Neon Lights and Traffic Signs

by Stef   Feb 25, 2006

Take my hand and let's paint the town in lies tonight.
from the city limit signs to the center of the town
let's douse it in envy.
black out the lights, leave the city in dark.
turn off every star in the sky;
let's let our cold hearts burn.

new york,
hollywood,
las vegas.
neon lights and traffic signs;
i love you's left carelessly in hotel rooms
mixed in with red dresses on the floor.
lipstick stains on the white lines of the highway.

we'll paint this town, the next town too.
let's drown the world in our sins cuz honey
the world looks so much more beautiful
with your lies to keep me company.

i've seen heaven in flowered bedspreads
lying in dirty motel rooms.
the smell of smoke
and the taste of cheap champagne
means i'm still alive.
drive faster darling;
i'm too young to die.

take my hand and we'll paint this town
in lust.
in greed.
in all the beautiful colors of the rainbow.
