Lead Astray

by Caitlin   Mar 7, 2006

From my corner I observe this life,
Filled with useless and pathetic strife.
Everyone remains so peacefully ignorant,
Unaware of this wretched figment.
People look past the economic decay,
Tell themselves that it will all be OK.
Everyday a newly raised issue,
Poverty, racism or weaponry misuse.
All of us blindly dismiss the dilemma,
Casually saying it won’t be forever.
What happens if we lose our freedom?
Overnight for some stupid reason.
We become ignorant again,
And blame it other fiends.
We are wrong to shift the blame,
For it was us who were lead astray.
Filled with belief that war was right,
Pushing those thoughts of wrong away at night.
We chose to follow those who were wrong,
Conforming to their lie filled song.
