Soldiers View

No-mans land
Lies straight ahead
Take my hand
Before Im dead

Down in the trenches
Of 6 feet deep
Rats on the benches
Sanity hard to keep

A silence so still
The coldness within
A time to kill
Blood on my skin

Holding a gun
My breath in the air
Whats done is done
A story to share

The ladders before me
Im ready to climb
Everything I see
Will change in time

A nervous shiver
Runs down my spine
A jolt to the liver
The memories mine

I look around
The scene is grim
Blood on the ground
A broken limb

Im filled with fear
As Im about to go
My time so near
You wouldnt know

The fields before me
As I start to run
Broken bodies I see
My grip tight on my gun

I see the enemy bases
And so I shoot
There wont be traces
Of our lost troop

A blinding light
Flashes before my eyes
A gruesome sight
As someone dies

Catastrophic sounds
Of ferocious explosions
Covering grounds
As far as oceans

One more shot
Hits me hard but plain
The feeling I got
Was of severe pain

Seeping blood
Coming through my skin
I fell into the mud
Screaming from within

Carefully tread
For now Im dead
