Trail of Tears

by Heather   Mar 9, 2006

Sorrow echoes in the wind
Pain swallows their worn ,torn souls
Fear causes them to tremble,
For courage they do not know

Scared to believe that this is happening
Too scared to move, too scared to Stay,
Scared that all that they have cherished
Is one day to slip away.

There they stand in the shadows,
Shivering from the tears and cold
Wishing they could travel back to
That land they came from, so long ago.

Shunned by those they lived among,
Forced to flee from where they come,
Wrapped in grief, the fallen flower
Is etched with scars and shame.

Scattered among the afraid and dying
There they lie in silent wait
Waiting to wake up one morning
And chase this terrifying dream away.
