Alone

I'm alone.
This doesn't surprise me.
Why?
Because no one likes me.

I'm always alone.
In the hallway,
In the classroom,
Each and every day.

Alone.
A sad word.
No one notices
Her lonely world.

An angel did,
And now, he's gone.
The girl again sits
On her front lawn.

She wonders
What she did wrong.
To make these people hate her,
For so long.

What did she do?
She doesn't know.
She only wishes
The tears would flow.

She wonders why
She can't cry.
She'd like to,
But her eyes are dry.

Does this angel know?
Does he care?
If he did,
Would he be here?

She only wants a friend.
Is that too much to ask?
No one seems to see
The pain behind this mask.
