Sour Apples and Vanilla Twilights

by Sondos   Mar 13, 2006

The evening shadows pulling faces
Jealousy breeds its subtle tactics
In a slumbering rhythm the city falls,
Into night, where sleep traps you in its web of protection

Opaque oddities,seething, bold and stark
Under the blanket slowly withering away
I'll be the hero, looking for the landmarks
Finding the road signs instead

Wax me a picture, don't put the fire out!
Inside its flames my whole life will dance
Licking my wounds and drying the tears
That weren't even there to start with

I cared for nothing, so there's nothing to lose
But the sour apples to arouse me, pale-eyed and realize
My antique dreams of vanilla- scented twilight
Were simply devoured by vermin of the night
