A handful of dreams

by Amanda Brown   Mar 14, 2006

I thought it would last, i thought we could be
How wrong i was i just couldn't see
it was always her; she holds the key to your heart
what I'm now ending should never have been allowed to start

Dreams kept us going, Dreams kept us strong
We were so right at being so wrong
my love an illusion, my happiness a mirage
a relationship based on lies and sabotage
and what do i blame for this pitiful scene
a wicked smile and a handful of dreams.

A love built on lies, a love of pretense
it took to long for me to see sense
i needed to love, needed to feel
needed to dream, needed to heal

Dreams kept us going, Dreams kept us strong
We were so right at being so wrong
my love an illusion, my happiness a mirage
a relationship based on lies and sabotage
and what do i blame for this pitiful scene
a wicked smile and a handful of dreams.

I'm glad our paths crossed at this point in life
I'll do it again, give the slate a wipe
start over and make it work
except I'm scared i would just get hurt

Dreams kept us going, Dreams kept us strong
We were so right at being so wrong
my love an illusion, my happiness a mirage
a relationship based on lies and sabotage
and what do i blame for this pitiful scene
a wicked smile and a handful of dreams.

Live long and happy and never forget
for what we had I'll never regret
a wicked smile, a pretty face
my inevitable fall from grace

Dreams kept us going, Dreams kept us strong
We were so right at being so wrong
my love an illusion, my happiness a mirage
a relationship based on lies and sabotage
and what do i blame for this pitiful scene
a wicked smile and a handful of dreams.
