Letter To Mom

by David Marshall   Mar 17, 2006

I can not move, stuck here in this car,
My life so close, but really so far,
I remember what you told me, just yesterday,
I remember everything, that you had to say,
You warned me, I listened, everything was clear,
Now I'm alone, nobody is near,
I want you to know, I did what you told me,
I listened to you, I always trust family,
I lay in this car, so close to death,
I cough up blood, as I gasp for each breath,
Everyone must know, it was not my mistake,
I am telling the truth with this statement I make,
I was not at fault, I did not drink and drive,
You have told me not to, ever since I was five,
I saw the car hit me, but I had no chance,
It was too late, so quick, one glance,
I love you and you know I always do what you say,
Every minute, every hour, every single day,
If worse comes to worse, my life God will take,
I want you to know Mom, it wasn't my mistake.
