Crossing

by Batscout   Mar 21, 2006

I looked around and then I found
I was only breathing in and out
Existing in some place where I couldn't trace
The last place I felt loved and safe.

I resolved to continue there.
Locked inside a me that wasn't me.
I wanted to tear out the walls.
Bend the bars, pick the lock, escape.

I longed to break through my cage
Live the person I was meant to be
Smell, taste, feel, touch, and see.
To run, to jump, to be free, to have faith.

When you asked me to dance
I smiled but saw no chance
For you and I to find romance.
This is in geste, I said.
Diversion, distraction.
Not heels over head.

You lead me to a bridge, we sat there awhile.
A growing attraction, an impulse to smile.
You kissed me and a warmth spread through
I closed my eyes and kissed you too

Each posture mirrored the other
Our hands intertwined
The bridge became a threshold crossed
A step never taken, such thoughts confined.

Even then we felt drawn
To one another with the dawn
Minds connected
Our hearts infected
A feeling injected
My soul resurrected

Once crossed that bridge became
A barrier to past returned
Our lives would never be the same
My body, base and being, yearned
Craved, needed, demanded you
Such love, such passion, I never knew

You offered possibility.
You gave the future, agility.
Together, we have magical ability.
Thank you for giving me security.
I promise all my vitality.
I pledge love, wonder, the rest of me.
