When I first saw your beauty grace my sight

by Daniel   Mar 22, 2006

When I first saw your beauty grace my sight,
When I confronted you with all my art,
When every thought, save one, brought blind by light
Of your sweet smile and split my heart apart.
One thought remains: do I now love you, girl,
Of rare desire? Forsake my love of her,
Of her from home where love I deemed a pearl
Of value rare: impossible compare?
But in despite of my mind's every sense
My heart does smite my mind with numbing power,
To prove true master of my soul: less dense,
Yet more, through excess love so love's devoured.
Beware, my mind, content with any love,
Beware, my heart, content with you: my love.
