African Heat (Rondel)

by Jacklyn   Mar 22, 2006

If you shall die before I wake
and burry thee in the African heat
By your side I will keep in this seat
by your pain I will cry and shake

As you struggle to stay awake
helplessly watching you grow weak
and burry thee in the African Heat
if you shall die before I wake

When the light begins to break
I check on thee for body heat
finding hope in your heartbeat
Prepared for when you don't wake
if you shall die before I wake

every three seconds a child in Africa dies, everyday mothers wake up to find that their child had not made it through the night. sometimes they burry them in un-marked graves near the hospital and then begin their journey home. i learned this in Spanish class, because he also teaches world Geography. this is due to the lack of food in certain african countries.

Wow! This piece brings to light the struggles that most of us never have to face. It's quite eye opening.
Next time someone thinks their life is so bad, they should take a moment and read this.
Take care and keep it up~Holly
