First To Be Last

When something is hurting
You can't fix it on your own
How do you keep going?
Are you better off alone

Should you turn for help?
Put your trust in someone
And give them the chance
To make you come undone?

Or do you battle it yourself?
Trudge on through the pain
And pray with all your might
You don't have to do it again

Find hope that you can run away
Take cover from the hurt inside
Hope that you can stay missing
Or at least find someplace to hide

Somewhere that is darkened
So that they can't get to you
A place where it doesn't matter
What you say or what you do

For then you could reflect
Without holding a blade
You could even sit and cry
And just let yourself fade

Fade into the background
Just a figment of the past
Never to be remembered
Or always remembered last
