That Night (A tribute to the souls lost in the holocaust)

by Momma22   Mar 25, 2006

I am so sad
All alone
Where is my mommy and daddy?
Is there anyone to hold?
They told me to wait here,
Under the bed...
But when the soldiers came in,
This is what they said...

"Do not be frightened,
For we are here to help,
We are not here to hurt you!
You cannot hide yourself"
They said they would help me,
So I slid from under the bed,

Just for them to grab me.
By the hair atop my head.
The men were so Grey
Tall, and built bulky.
I wanted you here, my mommy and daddy.

They said I would be happy soon.
So I followed them from the house.
To this little truck of steel
So many people, no room for even a mouse.

They shoved me in, during that cold hard night,
Just for me to wake up,
To a dim morning light.
I was with many people, no longer alone.

But the fate of our story...
Will it go untold?
Hitler will one day reign
I kept telling myself.
I need to get out of here.
I need someone's help!

There weren't any men here,
Only mommy's and girls like me.
Some were crying and sobbing.
No where for us to flee.
Is this how it will end?

For all to be unsolved?
For us to be killed so silently?
I have no happy thoughts!
