Simple Words

by Danielle   Mar 29, 2006

Silent laughter echoes through the night
Retrieving forgotten dreams hidden among the shadows. . .

Twisted words shout out within the silence of my broken heart
and I watch you standing there. . .
Your dark eyes unreadable
Your face covered in clouds of doubt
and words you ask me to speak, linger on my lips

Time stops
Suspending emotions in mid air
Words, unspoken drift away
and I can't breathe. . .

For a moment time shifts and you look away
Tears descend from your eyes
Reflecting memories of a life long ago

In the light of the moon, you smile
Your eyes speak a thousand words
Your lips move, speaking words I never thought I'd hear again. . . "I love you."

I touch your face and smile as words slip from my lips. . ."I love you, too."
