For you not for me

by Kathryn   Mar 30, 2006

Alone you reflect
Your own thoughts
As you tune out the others (and I)
With their selfish needs (with out mine)

Laugh they do to your sarcasm (as I had not)
Smile they will to the truth of false (as I do not)
Alone you stand (for I have been rejected)
Atop your only hope (which I stand away to watch)

Take you will not the sky (so I refuse)
Refuse you will the earth (as I have)
Deny you, will not the ocean
Of the great disastrous treachery (of which I had not wished)

Finally you will be one (as I am not)
Acceptance is granted now (for I say so)
Capture will be the ultimate
Or freedom overestimated (as I agreed to)

Water laps at your feet (as also mine)
Will you go? (for I wished not)
Where you belong? ( as I shall not)
Shall you sink to the top (where I shall not be)

It offers peace (I did also)
Soothing sounds (which I tried)
Failure to subdue (unmistakable as it is)
Second thoughts ( forbidden to contract)

Not allowed ( I accepted)
Not noticed (I tried)
You accepted (I denied)
You arrived ( I waited)

Your expected (as I figured)
You have become theirs (tears follow)
I can not help
I will not help

I watch you as your are pulled under
It was what you brought to yourself
I did not pursue
You are not mine

I had to let go…
I wished not to let go…
I tried not to let go…
…then you were gone.
