The one simple question

by Scott Sturgeon   Mar 31, 2006

When I think of you I want to cry
And the same question comes to mind
My love for you was honest and true
You broke my heart and left me blue

You broke the ties and all that bind
And the same question comes to mind
You said some hurtful things on that dreadful night
You broke my heart without even a fight

All you need was a little time
And the same question comes to mind
Broken wings and a crushed heart
Your love for me just fell apart

Without any warning you were gone
I will always love you at every dawn
In the darkness of the night and light of the day
There is only one answer that you need to say

That one burning question that fuels the fire
The one simple answer that I desire
The one question that I can’t answer
But all I can hear is Love’s little laughter

The pain inside my beating heart
Tears at my soul and rips it apart
And the same question comes to mind
Why does love have to be so blind?
