Half-Way Runaway

by greg   Apr 1, 2006

"Sorry to leave you this soon..."
writes the note sitting on the counter
Stepping out the door, the troubled boy follows a new moon

Thumb lingering in the summer nights air
travelers whizzing by him
some skimming his hair

He looks through the 2 portals on his face
two hours later he'll think he's in space

Sleeping silently on a bench lies a bum
feeling stressed the boy grabs the rum

Walk down the alley he trips on some trash
two hours later he'll be drunk off his ass

two hours later he'll be somewhere unexpected
how come his parents can't see things from his perspective

His troubled vision allows him to see a mom and a son
eating an ice cream cone
This is the scene that makes him go back home
