I am a dreamer

by katie!   Apr 2, 2006

I am a dreamer lost in marshmallow clouds of reality
Whirling in a tornado of broken thoughts and tragedy
Be a dreamer, be a lover, be one with love, be free
For I was once a dreamer, until depression overtook me

It smashed my heart's desire, into a million pieces of glass
I was once a dreamer, lost in a field of candy lace grass
Be a dreamer, be a lover, be true always to your mind
For I was once a dreamer, until I fell far behind

Sing melodies of wonder, and let them float into the air
Write poetry from your heartstrings, longer than Rapunzel's hair
Be a dreamer, be a lover, be one who resides in purple fires
For I was once a dreamer, living to fulfill my every desire

Enjoy your life aplenty and find comfort in my song
Love is not truly love, when it falls apart upon one wrong
Remember hope is always living, within the heart of every man
So I'll reclaim that I'm a dreamer, with pen and paper in my hand

I LOVE this piece. i don't often say that, either.

but this poem was very fun, very deep, very simple, and very true.

"lost in the marshmallow clouds of reality"
i love this line, it triggers so many sensory images and buries the reader deep in thought.

    very, very well written.
