Lost and Lonelies

by Rachel   Apr 4, 2006

They're on a cruise such a happy time
20 years of lies topped off with a 10 day battle
but that's too far away from her
she can't worry about everyone all the time
10 days go by and she's still sitting on the couch
there's writing on the wall and questions left and right
did you write that? who left sweetie?
sitting on the stained cushions dried tears down her cheeks
streaked make up and dirty clothes
the shower's been lonely while you were gone
who left sweetie? what's going on?
she just looks at them and smiles that mass produced smile
it's her way of saying she's not okay
they all left they all left they all left me
the words she can't get out
shaking violently throwing her body to the floor
actions not words no words anymore
she couldn't deal with it she couldn't face it
it turns out she's nothing you thought she was
not strong or sensible at all
3? did you say three? three what sweetie?
everything 3 is everything
3 people 3 months 3 bottles of pills 3 cuts 3 times too deep
three times more then she could handle
the noise of the sirens pull everyone to the window
the perfect chance to let go
been holding on for 3 times too long
notice the blood stains when you remove the blanket
and the knife that fell out of your baby's hand
didn't you think it was strange
all along you never knew
she was running running with all she had
just trying to make it somewhere she would be okay.
